Detail of shelf/loft in girls bedroom
Roof overhang detail. We had to build outriggers to carry the roof out a bit.
Put in our clerestory windows
There was tons of site work to be done. 3 boys spent the entire session out on the site finishing this central wall. They had to frame a pony wall the modules will sit on top of this. They also built several tire retaining walls.
These are light steel beams. They will be the horizontal part of the structure that will hold the modules off the ground. These cost about $5,000 and thats with a generous discount. Hank bought these for us because we couldn't afford them.
The tube steel columns will be the vertical structure holding the modules off the ground and the light steel beams will attach to them. We had to have custom welds put on the bottom and holes drilled for us.
Overall site view.
Insulation...worst job ever. All we could afford was the crappy fiberglass and it sucks to put in.
Interior view. So we had cork on that end wall and a completely different material on the wall where all the cubbyholes are. Well we hated it. So we tore it down and replaced it in like 2 days. The end wall is a cement plaster.
Putting up exterior cladding
Had to put aluminum on the backside of the sides to be the reveal behind the cubby's. Such a hard job. Those sheets were SO heavy and all the guys were at the site. It took 3 girls lift and screwing to get them up.
Wall detail. Exposing the studs Pompidou style.
Tyvek goes on the outside.
Grocery store shelves will be on the outside of the house. They were sanded and painted by hand.
Brushed aluminum in the kitchen behind the cabinets.
Aluminum goes up behind the studs.
Small ends will be wood slats with metal grate for a rainscreen effect. Metal grate will go up next session.
Pups!!! They have the most wonderful lives down here.
More insulation in ceiling...ugh.
Beginning of the girls room.
Plumbing! Wow very complicated.
