I was really happy to find out yesterday, that my scheduled physics test for today was canceled. We are going to have it when we get back from break. I was really happy to find this out because I was exhausted. I spent last night with my mom as she was buying a car and didn't want to go alone. She got a very cute Jeep Patriot. It sorta looks like a Land rover, its a grey-blue color, and it only has 14,000 miles so she is thrilled. This morning I got my hair cut, missed a couple of classes but I really needed a haircut. Here is a picture for viewing pleasure. I went a little shorter for summer and got it highlighted it has some bright red in it but you cant see it in the picture.
After my haircut I made it to my calculus class where we spent the whole class period with me in a dispute with my teacher. It was actually very funny. The whole semester he has been annoying me, he is really young and has a Master's in Pure Mathematics and he is really into math history and creative math (whatever that is). Anyways he was on his usual rant today about how math is the basis of everything in life. I argued with him that while math is important and precise we should also appreciate the importance of creativity and art, that's what makes life beautiful. I hate how science people under appreciate the power of creativity. We would live in such a boring world if we didn't have the power of art, design, music, language, and all other creative areas. I think he somewhat agreed with me but didn't really understand what I was saying. Obviously he so factually oriented that the beautiful things around him don't seem important. So sad.
I have gotten into it with him before when he claimed we needed to encourage little girls to "use their brains" in sciences, instead of putting them in ballet when they are little. I appreciate that he is saying woman are capable they just aren't encouraged to do anything too science intensive, especially here in Utah. I argued with him about why they cant do both, I mean seriously it is possible to be creative and also capable in the sciences. Don't get me started on that soapbox.
The only other thing new with us is we are trying to determine what to do about our future living situation. With everything being so unpredictable in the economy we are trying to determine if we should buy or rent. Obviously we would prefer to buy and we have driven by a couple of houses that are really cheap but need some work. There are a lot of incentives right now for first time buyers and it is really tempting, but if the economy keeps getting worse you never know what is going to happen. It makes us both nervous.
Well that's about it. Sorry the updating has been somewhat sporadic.
